The bike path goes all the way into Denver and I think connects to the long Cherry Creek pathway. The Mr. rode this path 27 miles to the REI in West Denver a few weeks ago and probably could have kept going. Not the prettiest in some of Denver's outer 'burbs, but it's a great thing to have!

Thanks for the kind words in Chupa comments, Katherine. Keep up the great work on this site and with IMBA. I followed your trip from SA (ese!) to Colorado and the IMBA with great interest--and a healthy (borderline poisonous) dose of jealousy.

You currently have what many cycling writers (really I'm just a blogger, but I dislike the term so I go with something a bit uppity) would consider a Dream Job.

So I'm not going to actively work to push you into early retirement with an eye toward replacement.

I promise. ;)

Keep up the excellent work both on Mellow Velo and the exceptional organization for which you speak. Reading posts like this and about this insane thing called mountain biking makes it all seem pretty enticing. Now if I could only remember whether the thumb or the finger is the upshift... I always realize my ignorance in this regard at the bottom of a creek crossing when I've got about thirty feet of 20 percent dirt grade to navigate in the next two seconds.

Congrats, and enjoy the hell out of Colorado.

Being human powered is what separates us from those who choose to foul the air with motors (of any kind). Keep the sport clean and our bodies fit.

Webster's Dictionary defines a bicycle as, " a vehicle with two wheels tandem, handlebars for steering, a saddle seat, and pedals by which it is propelled."

Webster's also defines a moped as, "a lightweight low-powered motorbike that can be pedaled"

Therefore, it seems quite logical that any motorized form of a bicycle is really a moped, and should fall under that set of regulations, not those governing bicycles.

Personally, I don't see the appeal in putting a motor on a bike. It takes all the fun and enjoyment out of it! It's a great feeling knowing you rode up a big hill, or for a long distance, using just your own power.

You remind me of a recent article in the New York Times on what really makes us happy. Maybe you read it (or packed your stuff in it). I'll send it to you.
Love the pictures. Hope you do get outside most days.

Crashing your mountain bike is one of life's joys. PLUS, I seem to be able to crash about ten times as often on a mountain bike and get maybe 1/3 the serious injuries. What a deal, huh?

Seriously, relish these early MTBing crashes. It starts to be a bummer later on when you get really good and the only time you crash is when you're exploding your front wheel, and catapulting, catastrophically, off of some huge mountainside.
