Meet Chester

Scrat the Scattante cyclocross bike has a new name: Chester. This was suggested by a friend when I equated the color I painted the frame with the dust left on one’s fingers after scarfing a bag of Cheetos. I think it’s fitting for another reason, as I will likely be riding the bike as though I had just scarfed an entire bag of Cheetos. My fitness is not exactly where I’d want it to be when about to become a Colorado cyclist.

When I arrived this morning to lay the clear coat over the beautiful orange, I was convinced that my meticulous planning and execution had paid off and the paint job wouldn’t look amateurish. Unfortunately, despite researching the problem beforehand and believing I had worked properly to avoid it, some of the paint started to crack the instant the top coat went on. Chester is going to look a little scruffy up close, and it’s hard to say how long the paint job will last, but I still have an orange bike, nonetheless!
